Patio repointing & repairs · Northamptonshire
Your patio is probably fine. Its joints are not.
Most tired patios do not need replacing. The slabs are sound; it is the pointing that has cracked, washed out and let the weeds in, and a slab or two has worked loose. We assess the patio, lift and re-bed what has moved, clean out the old joints and repoint with a jointing system that suits the stone. A day or two of work, a fraction of the cost of a new patio.

What we fix
Honest assessment first. If the base has failed and the whole thing is sinking, we will tell you and quote a rebuild. More often it is one of these.
- Cracked, crumbling or missing pointing
- Weeds and moss growing through the joints
- Loose or rocking slabs
- Sunken areas and standing water
- Staining and efflorescence
- Damaged or missing edging

How repointing works
Old jointing is raked or cut out to a proper depth, the patio is cleaned, loose slabs are lifted and re-bedded on fresh mortar, then the joints are refilled with a brush-in resin compound or traditional pointing to match the original. Sealing is optional and we will tell you whether your stone wants it.
- Joints raked out, not just skimmed over
- Loose slabs re-bedded on full mortar
- Resin brush-in or traditional pointing
- Pressure clean and optional seal
- Usually one to two days on site

Why preparation matters
The bit you never see is the bit you’re paying for.
A fraction of a new patio
Repointing a 30 m² patio costs a few hundred pounds, not several thousand.
Done properly or not at all
If the base has gone we say so. We do not repoint a patio that will be rocking again by spring.
Same crew, same standards
The lads who build our new patios do the repairs. The joints will be as tidy as on a new job.
How much does patio repointing cost?
As a guide, £25 to £45 per square metre depending on joint width, access and whether slabs need re-bedding. A typical 30 m² patio is £750 to £1,350. Fixed price after we have seen it.
Can you repoint porcelain?
Yes. Porcelain joints are narrow and take a specific grout; we use the right one and keep the slab faces clean.
Will the weeds come back?
Not through properly filled resin joints. Weeds grow in failed joints and dirt; take away the gap and the dirt and there is nowhere for them to root.
