Artificial grass & new lawns · Northamptonshire

A better-looking lawn, with the right solution for your garden.

A lawn is usually the centrepiece of a garden, so getting it right changes the whole space. We install both traditional turf lawns and high-quality artificial grass, which means we can recommend the one that suits the way you live rather than pushing whichever we happen to sell.

01 · Artificial grass & new lawns

New turf lawns

For the look and feel of real grass, we prepare and lay a completely new lawn. The preparation is everything: a lawn laid on lumpy, compacted ground looks lumpy and compacted for ever.

  • Removal of the old lawn or vegetation
  • Ground levelling and soil preparation
  • New screened topsoil where needed
  • Drainage where the ground holds water
  • Turf laid and rolled, with a watering plan
  • Edging and borders around the lawn

02 · Artificial grass & new lawns

Artificial grass

Artificial grass is a brilliant answer for busy households, rental properties, small or shaded gardens and dogs. We install it on a compacted stone sub-base with a free-draining layer and weed membrane, so it drains and stays flat rather than puddling and rucking.

  • Low-maintenance and rental gardens
  • Children's play areas
  • Small and shaded gardens where grass fails
  • Dog-friendly short-pile, high-drainage turf
  • Contemporary schemes alongside porcelain

Decorative lawn borders

The lawn does not have to stop at a straight spade edge. Borders tie the lawn into the rest of the landscaping and are the difference between a lawn and a designed garden.

  • Porcelain, block and stone edging
  • Gravel and slate borders
  • Raised planting areas
  • Curved lawn edges set out properly

Why preparation matters

The bit you never see is the bit you’re paying for.

Drainage built in

Artificial grass that puddles is a base problem. Ours drains through a stone layer, not onto clay.

Honest about artificial

It is brilliant for shade, dogs and small gardens. It is not right everywhere, and we will say so.

Finished edges

Edging is what separates a lawn from a patch of grass. We finish every one.

Artificial grass & new lawns: your questions.

Still got a question?Call Gaz · 07961 737684
Is artificial grass OK with dogs?

Yes, with the right product and base. We fit a short-pile, high-drainage turf for dog owners and a hose-down is enough.

How long does artificial grass last?

A decent UK-spec turf on a proper base lasts 12 to 15 years. The cheap stuff laid on sand lasts three.

When is the best time to lay real turf?

Spring and autumn. We can lay in summer with a watering plan, but it costs you more water.

Natural turf or artificial, which should I choose?

If the lawn gets sun and you enjoy mowing, real turf every time. If it is shaded, small, used hard by kids or dogs, or it is a rental, artificial will look better for longer. We will tell you which on the site visit.
